From the Desk of Fr. Slater
A few weeks ago, Sister Christine told me that, after a long period of prayer and discussion with the superiors in her community, she had reached the conclusion that the time had come for her to leave Notre Dame and take up residence at the Dominican Motherhouse in Amityville. It was not an easy decision.
Sister Christine has been a part of Notre Dame for 50 years. In 1968, Sister came to teach at Notre Dame School. After retiring from teaching, Sister worked in the rectory until a few years ago when it became too difficult for her. Sister has been a part of the Rosary Society and a member of our parish St. Vincent de Paul Society. She has always been present at parish activities and celebrations. Sister has had a very great impact on our parish.
Sister Christine will be leaving Notre Dame at the end of January. We will have a farewell for her in early February at which time parishioners will have the opportunity to thank Sister and wish her God’s blessings. I have asked Sister to write a short note to the parish. It appears in this week’s bulletin.
